My American Accent?

Growing up in the DC Metro area, I learned how to speak "Eastern Standard Diction", typically what actors, newscasters and politicians learn to fill many different roles without sounding like they have an accent. So I was interested in seeing what my results would be when I ran across the quiz/poll below on Stepping Heavenward's blog. I was pleasantly surprised that the results pretty much agreed with my upbringing despite living so close to Philly for the past three years, LOL!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

That was fun. I did mine too and it said the Northeast (North Jersey, NYC, Connecticut or Rhode Island). Pretty good.
