The One True God

I grew up in a Southern Baptist family (my grandparents) and although I do not attend a SB church now (I attend an Evangelical Free church), I love reading articles by and about SB members. It gives me that "old home week" feeling.

I ran across an excellent article while catching up on some of my favorite blogs today (thanks Jamie!) and thought I would share it. Here is a glimpse...

"Today, similar debate has revolved around the two largest faiths in the world, Islam and Christianity, and whether the god of the Koran is the God of the Bible. Simply put, the god of Muhammad is not the Father of Jesus. The subject in its essence is not a linguistic issue, but a theological matter with eternal ramifications. To say that since Allah is Arabic for God and YHWH is Hebrew for God, Christians and Muslims worship the same God is beyond naïve –- it is blasphemous."

Read the article in it's entirety here.

Hmmmmm, I'm always inspired by my Baptist brothers and sisters. Always a good teaching to be had. Is Evangelical Free like Pentacostal? Or does it mean no evangelicals allowed? (wink wink) I don't think we have that denomination in my area so I'm not familiar with it. We have a great Pentecostal church nearby that I teach at sometimes. I just love down home Gospel worship. There's something about it that completes my soul. You know?

Mrs. Sam,

Honestly, I could not tell you how the E-Free church compares to any other. We pick individual churches based on their doctrine and biblical teachings and not for the denomination itself.

In the past we have attended "Community" churches, Presbyterian and Brethren. We have no loyalty to a certain church, just the King!

I grew up SB, too. What a coinky-dink! :-)

Isn't Mr. Caner just amazing!?! And I don't consider us a SB either. Although in the church they always seem to be so quick to label themselves and be proud of being SB. We are CHRISTIANS who go to a SB church because like you said above, its what we found that we agree with docritinally.
